$ 181 on October 28, 2009…
Halfway October 2009 I decided to start betting. That’s something I had never done, ever. What made me decide was my family situation: I am out of a job, my wife works about six hours a day for minimum wages, and my four kids, now 8, 10, 12 and 17, are costing us more and more money every day. The oldest girl goes to junior college and in train and bus fare alone that’s more than 200 euro’s a month.
We took out a ten thousand euro loan before I lost my job, which was meant to buy a larger car. Well, we didn’t buy the car, and the money went in groceries. So the situation was getting, well, suffocating.
One day last month I stumbled on a site run by a certain John Morisson, who advertizes himself like this in the opening paragraph:
“My name is John Morrison and I’m a celebrated Cornell University graduate with a PhD in statistics. Over the last 28 years I’ve exclusively handicapped sports to a selected group of private members and have yet to have a losing season of betting!”
I read through it and then dismissed it as another hype thing. The next few days it stayed with me, though, and I went back to the site and re-read it a dozen times. I clicked the testimonials page and to my amazement I saw not the obligatory anonymous or fake little stories but dozens, hundreds, thousands of letters, often handwritten, from people with names, addresses and photographs.
I went through my house room for room and collected a box full of knick knacks, stuff that my Dad had left me and I sold it to an antiques dealer. With the money, a little over $ 2000, I decided to do something that was really alien to me, to my character, to my upbringing. I would bet on sporting events (I did NOT inform my wife!). I had decided to go for it but I couldn’t get get myself to make the move yet. My stomach churned thinking about what I was going to do. I wanted to tell my better half, ask her for advise, but I didn’t. Then finally, I forced my fingers to key in the ordering information for the handicapping service subscription. I chose to try the two-week option. It took a little while to figure everything out:
1. subscribe myself to John Morisson’s handicapping magic;
2. take an account with Moneybookers (to send money from the bank to the sportsbook one needs to use Moneybookers.com);
3. and finally, to open an account with Betus.com, the sportsbook that works best with John’s system. If you live in Canada or Holland, as I do, you can go to Sportsbook.com.
I deposited $ 2000. Mind you, you can start with as little as you like, even $ 100or $ 500. It’ll take longer to build up your income, that’s all. Once I had done that I sat back and waited.
After a while I received my first email from John with his recommendation: San Antonio-New Orleans. I have to confess that I was very nervous, and feeling a kind of guilty excitement. I decided to try for $ 200.
I slept while tossing and turning (there is a minimum time difference of 6 hours between ourselves and where the games are played) and when the day broke, I hastily checked my computer. This is what I saw: $ 181,82 plus my $ 200: $ 381! I had bet $ 200 and won $ 181! I couln’t believe it. Did this mean John Morisson had a system, some secret software?
On November 1 I placed another bet after John’s email (Hawks-Lakers. I bought 3 points to be sure I’d come out OK.). I spent another bad night, but the next morning when I checked the sportsbook, I found this: I had won $ 117 for a $ 200 bet. And so it went.
I received my picks from John, I placed them and I’d come out winning. Was I happy? Of course. Did I start to be a believer? Well, hmmm, yeah. The proof was in the pudding. Remember: The evidence in the form of screenshots can be seen at: http://truqq.blogspot.com
